Transforming Ideas Into Action

A Summer Solstice Exercise

Marketing Spot

We have arrived at the Summer Solstice. With increasing hours of daylight since the Spring Equinox, the sun has reached its’ zenith. The sun, high in the sky, invites us to turn outward, and to be brave. This is an invitation to get out of the head and into the world.

However unpredictable our lives seem to be, however confusing daily and seasonal weather patterns have become, the movement of earth, moon, and sun remains constant. Daylight, moonlight, and darkness arrive and recede within the cycle that’s been known since before humans roamed the earth.

The Spring season is a time of birth and/or re-birth. It is a time of ideas, inspiration, and creativity. This is the element of air. We see this in ourselves as we “wake up” from the darkness of Winter, as we watch baby animals emerge, and in the wind that usually accompanies the Spring season.

The fire element becomes more present as we move into Summer. Seeds that germinated in the Spring begin to bear fruit. This is the transformational energy of the fire element. Fire transforms the macrocosm and also the microcosm of our thoughts, ideas, and revelations into something tangible. Fire warming air offers the opportunity for creative thinking to become transformational action.

Below are some questions you can use as prompts to support your own or group process of transformation. It may be something seemingly small, it may be something seemingly grand. The transformation may be slow and steady, or it may ignite quickly and move swiftly.

However it transforms, and however small or grand it may appear today, I encourage you to offer space for the process. Personal transformation begins with one percent shifts. Revolution and large scale transformation begin with a single act.

Questions For Reflection:

1. What thoughts, ideas, or revelations stir within my/our being?

2. What stands in the way of realizing these thoughts, ideas, or revelations?

3. Am I/we willing to offer space for transformation?

4. What can I/we do to support the transformation?
Remember that one seemingly small, single act can create enough space for transformation to begin. Beginnings are often seen as insignificant to the outcome. But I offer that beginnings are the most essential part, and often the scariest. I assure you that more will be revealed, one step at a time.
